The Golden Closet, a Hollywood-based company that specializes in the re-sale of entertainment memorabilia, recently acquired the original exploding bible prop used by Nicol Williamson in the climax of William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist III and is now offering it for sale through their website.
As fans and collectors of Exorcist memorabilia would know, it’s not often you come across original screen-used props from the first three films. Thus, on the rare occasion when one does pop up, there’s usually a hefty price tag attached to it. This one in particular will set you back $3,500.
The description is as follows:
The exterior of the prop Bible has a faux cover and metal flame resistant interior, light bulbs in the bind, multi color ribbons, and tubes that connected to a compressor, which conducted the gas to combust into flames. The burning Bible gag comes with production used aluminum storage box. This prop was controlled by a pyrotechnic professional and should not be operated and has not been tested since its use on production.
